Welcome

Welcome to my not-so-personal site, not-so-stranger. Mostly in English, but please bear with me keeping some topics or links in Dutch only.

In the headlines (on the right) you will find current topics of interest. The menu (above) will give access to main areas of interest which I'm inclined to share. Absent here are travel, music, fine art and literature. For the time being. The banner (on top) highlights an issue, newsitem or concept. It will change every so often, but past banners will be available here.

If you have any suggestions, or if you want to exchange links, please contact me.

A World Of Silence: Structure And Freedom

My all time hobby, the extremely silent (listen!) world of crystalline coolness, accuracy and transparency of optics still get me goosebumps, and also, perhaps, a little regret for the lost* magic of a wet darkroom. Yet this coolness of the analogue world and the crystalline heat of semiconductors of the digital world combined open up new ways to perceive things more precisely. Ok, no worries, it's fun really. Try to see the unlimited freedom within the limitations of a fixed, frozen structure. Which, incidentally is why I love Flamenco. And, just watch this combination has been working wonders the past couple of years in merging photography and communications -people don't buy camera's in the iPhone era anymore!

Let's just skip into the wonders of pixels. News, an portrait, a personal project: why not. You get the idea. Go there...

Now here's a 3D picture for you to enjoy. It's a snowflake, obviously. Use 3D glasses, red for the left eye, blue (rather than green) for the right eye. Rochester University.

This, of course, makes one wonder. If one still insists on reading newpapers well, then at least try to establish trends and domains and positions which are NOT in the papers. Eh? Which, as said, of course, makes one wonder. What it says. What it says to do. And... NOT to do. Go there...
